On Wednesday evening at 7pm Chiswick RNLI Lifeboat was asked to investigate a report of a car drifting away at Putney hard.

An eye witness had seen an empty silver Volvo drifting away on the high tide. The Lifeboat crew tried to locate the vehicle with a sea magnet but the search was unsuccessful; as it had been confirmed there was nobody in the car they then returned to station.

The vehicle was recovered by the Port of London Authority (PLA) salvage team at low tide the following day.
