Fatal Sports Car Accident on Putney Hill

Police appeal for witnesses

A 41-year-old driver died when his sports car overturned in south-west London, feet away from a police car. The Metropolitan Police say officers saw the Lotus Exige crash on Saturday night but were not in pursuit.

An air ambulance was sent but the car driver was pronounced dead at the scene on Putney Hill. There were no other passengers or vehicles involved.

Because of police proximity the details have been referred to the force's department for professional standards.
