High price sales dominate in otherwise quiet month for local market

Prices in the SW15 post code area were strong during November according to the latest figures from the Land Registry although the number of transaction was lower than normal.
There were 56 reported sales at an average price of £909,762 one of the highest monthly averages on record.
The highest priced sale during the month was for a house on Gypsy Lane which changed hands for £4,450,000 to become the twelfth most expensive property in the area.
It was one of thirteen sales during the month for over £1,000,000 including another two for over £3,000,000.
London continues to be the area of the country seeing the strongest price growth. During November the average price in the capital was £461,453 up another 1.2% compared to the previous month to bring the annual price rise to 17.4%
The Land Registry’s House Price Index shows an annual price increase of 7.1% which takes the average property value in England and Wales to £176,581.
The most up-to-date figures available show that during September 2014 the number of completed house sales in England & Wales increased by 5% to 73,552 compared with 70,020 in September 2013
The number of properties sold in England and Wales for over £1 million in September 2014 increased by 8% to 1,172 from 1,088 in September 2013
