Three friends from South West London have teamed up to create a modern Café, Bar & Restaurant at 146 Upper Richmond Road. Home SW15 offers a buzzy all day 'open house' restaurant open seven days a week with a fabulous cocktail bar offering tasty bites.

Craig & the two Freddie’s have worked in the London hospitality scene for over 10 years in restaurants including Soho House, Adam Byatt’s Bistro Union and Charlotte’s Group (where the three met).

My friend and I enjoyed great cocktails in the bar area, there are sixteen classic cocktails to choose from all cost £8.50. The 'Dark and Stormy' was delicious and my friends Gin Fizz got the thumbs up - as you can see it hardly touched the sides! If you need more tempting you get 50% off ‘Made @ Home’ Cocktails everyday 5.30pm-7.30pm. These were accompanied by melt-in the mouth ham and cheese croquettes (£5) and crispy courgette fritti (£4) from the bar menu.

Moving from the bar to the restaurant area we also moved from cocktails to wine. The wine list had a good selection of options and we opted for an un-seasonal but suiting both parties, classic Provence rosé with it’s typical pale salmon colour and gorgeous nose of citrus and red fruits - Magali Signature Rosé (£38)..... well you can pretend it is late summer can't you?

All the staff we encountered were charming and personable, front of house Craig believes the key to creating successful restaurants is to simply look after people – “Being hospitable is easy, but it’s the bit you cannot teach. I want to surround myself with people who are nice to one another and committed to creating something that people want to be part of. The way people look after each other, suppliers & guests is the key to creating a successful business and something I hope is evident at “Home”.

The dinner menu is not over complicated, offering a choice of five starters and five main course. My friend chose the sweet corn soup with girroles, cobnuts and lardons(£7). Creamy and rich with the lardons and cob nuts adding different textures and flavours - I am afraid I did borrow a spoon so I could try and would certainly be up for that on my next visit! I opted for the rosehip cured salmon with elderberry capers and white gazpacho (£8.50) - delicious and very attractive to the eye as well as the taste buds..

The main courses arrived; my friends shrimp burger (£16) came with fries which were really hot and not at all greasy, and topped with a fiery 'mayonnaise' and my guinea fowl melted away from the bone and was served with a rich prune and madeira jus with cauliflower puree and green beans(£18).

Sadly we could not do justice to our shared dessert - a 'pot' with a blackberry 'jam' at the base covered in a rich chocolate mouse which in turn was topped with a deliciously sharp lemon crème fraiche (£6). The pot was rather large - think jar - but delicious as it was it beat us!

With fond farewells over our fresh mint tea, not only did we promise to see more of each other but we both agreed that we 'will return' to quote Arnold Schwarzenegger ( I fear I am giving away my age). The restaurant is a welcome addition to Putney, the staff and food were well appreciated and with the outside spot for al fresco dinning or mid morning catch up over coffee I am sure it will soon become a favourite of many a local where if Craig and the two Freddie's have their way, we all all feel 'at home' there.
