Ladies That Lunch, Business Lunch Or Any Excuse For A Great Lunch
Cucina Povera at Enoteca Turi offers 3 courses at lunchtime for £15.50
Three courses with three choices tempted the three of us at Enoteca last week - so we went for "one of each", however being allergic to cheese I was forced to amend my order from a beef dish to the fish dish (some may say that going Italian is not wise for an allergy like this but I can assure you I love Italian and was not disappointed!).
The starters were all very tasty; a crostini of chicken liver pate, a fabulous light summer vegetable soup and a mozzarella & roasted beetroot salad - a combination that my vegetarian friend said " never had before and it worked very well".
For the main course we had fillet of black bream with borlotti beans, spring onions and a salsa rossa whilst the veggie in the party had an aubergine ravioli with fresh tomato sauce.
Wine is one of Enoteca Turi's major attractions to any wine buff - the list is huge with over 300 wines and each wine has its own tasting notes. Unsure when only ordering a glass or bottle? No problem at Enoteca, as owner Giuseppe Turi points you in the right direction with a wine recommendation for every item on the menu. We sipped a refreshing, crisp Bardolino Chiaretto rose from the Veneto area by a female producer called Giovanna Tantini priced at £6.85 per glass
Pudding! Well the warm prune & almond tart with grappa syrup was everything it promised to be - a sophisticated dessert with a blend of delicate flavours whereas my friends comment on her Venetian style chocolate cake with strawberry coulis was only one word....."orgasmic"!
Enoteca runs gastronomic events combining food, wine and history of a region or era - these are quickly booked up and the next is at 7pm on 9th June with foods and wines inspired by the Renaissance Popes - for more details contact Enoteca Turi or check out our calendar.
