Friends from Elliott School days, The xx are shortlisted for Islands. Also vieing in the same category are double Brit winner Tinie Tempah, 22, with his No 1 single Pass Out, and 21-year-old Brits School graduate Katy B, nominated for her debut single, Katy On A Mission.

The xx will know their fate on May 19th when the awards will be given at The Grosvenor House Hotel.
