Tomoe is often packed and regularly with Japanese dinners and yet it has been announced by Scores on the Doors that the restaurant has received a rating of 1 regarding food hygiene. The Food Hygiene Rating Scheme allows the public to see the results of food hygiene inspections as a rating from 0 to 5. Rating certificates and window stickers are sent out to businesses after assessment.

The restaurant was ranked good for 'Structural Compliance' which includes; (including cleanliness, layout, condition of structure, lighting, ventilation, facilities etc.), but only received a fair for 'Food Hygiene& Safety' (including food handling practices and procedures, and temperature control) and the food safety team registered little confidence in the management.

The website states that a management that achieves good food hygiene performance, well understood by the workforce, should have achieved a good score in this area.

Scores on the Doors is a website that collates information on the food premises supplied by the Food Standards Agency and provided by local authorities.  Wandsworth Council inspects
most of the 2,132 food premises in Wandsworth each year - the aim as stated on the council website is to 'to ensure that food sold to the public is safe to consume'.
