A Putney ice cream parlour has received the lowest possible rating after a visit from Wandsworth borough hygiene inspectors.

Marbles Gelato at 260 Upper Richmond Road is located within a dry cleaners unit and according to its Facebook page it offer over "20 different flavours of Gelatos and Sorbets to delight you".

However when the inspectors visited the mood was probably frozen as the resulting Scores on the Doors was zero. The restaurant was ranked Poor for 'Food Hygiene & Safety' and 'Structural Compliance' for some major non-compliance with statutory obligations – more effort required to prevent fall in standards. The food safety team registered no confidence in the management team.

The Food Hygiene Rating Scheme allows the public to see the results of food hygiene inspections as a rating from 0 to 5. Rating certificates and window stickers are sent out to businesses after assessment.

Scores on the Doors is a website that collates information on the food premises supplied by the Food Standards Agency and provided by local authorities.  Wandsworth Council inspects most of the 2,132 food premises in Wandsworth each year - the aim as stated on the council website is to 'to ensure that food sold to the public is safe to consume'.
