The Trustees of Wimbledon & Putney Commons Conservators have told to this website that this is a "temporary" situation that will continue for about 2 year. They said, "No Common land will be permanently lost, but Tideway have powers under the DCO to take exclusive temporary possession of land identified on the plan below for the purposes of carrying out the work".

DCO stands for Development Consent Order was which granted by the Secretaries of State in September 2014 and this is a statutory instrument.

Full details can be found on the WPCC website.

The Trustees confirmed that, "Once the hoarding is in position the Heras fencing will be removed, and once the work has been completed, the hoarding and concrete will be removed and the land reinstated".
