Over 30 businesses have joined forces to bring festive cheer and Christmas treats to Putney as the famous saying "two heads are better than one" comes into play.

Members of the public are being encouraged to support and celebrate the importance of local independent businesses. Research shows that just £10 spent with a local independent shop means £50 back into the local economy. You can indirectly make a big impact on your local community without it costing you much.

So why not enjoy festive tunes from the brass band, tuck into mince pies and sip on mulled wine as you browse market stalls and pick up those last-minute Christmas goodies.

Fancy doing an activity instead? Get creative and decorate a tree ornament, take part in the kids trail and make a pitstop at the Lapland post box to send letters to Santa.

Deepak Kapoar, owner of MaGoa has been Putney for 26 years and is the driving force behind this event. His vision is to increase awareness and trade for all businesses on Upper Richmond Road: “We have many excellent independent businesses on Upper Richmond Road and I strongly believe that if we work together, we can achieve much more. My idea of the Christmas Fare was for everyone to come together, support each other and celebrate the spirit of Christmas. I think everyone has done an amazing job in achieving that.”

Nicola Grant, Executive Director of Positively Putney Business Improvement District (BID) is thrilled to see BID businesses coming together in this way: “These businesses were able to identify a gap, work towards a common goal, lean into each other's strengths and work together to highlight all the wonderful businesses on Upper Richmond Road. Positively Putney is thrilled to be part of this movement and ensure this exciting event takes place.”

With a charity tombola, festive face painting, a talking Christmas tree and an opportunity to meet the cast of treasure island – where else would you want to be on the 15th December?!

This festive fayre takes place on Sunday 15th December 2019, 11am – 3pm on Upper Richmond Road in Putney. For full details, please visit positivelyputney.co.uk
