To celebrate the centenary of the end of WW1 the Christmas Truce Match of 1914 will be re-enacted by Putney born comedian and actor Jack Whitehall. A team of eleven of his celebrity friends will include Jamie Redknapp, Lawrence Dallaglio, John Bishop and Jamie Laing are to take on Royal Fusiliers Commemorative Eleven. The referee is Lee Dixon and the commentator is David Hamilton.

On Christmas Eve 1914 the soldiers of the 1st Battalion Royal Warwickshire Regiment, fighting on the Western Front, crossed into No Man’s Land to fight a different sort of battle against the German Army – a football match. For a brief, happy time, enemies became friends.

The match takes place on Sunday 23 December at 2.00pm at Rosslyn Park FC, Priory Lane, SW15 5NJ. Tickets cost £8-£10 and can be bought online.

The main Charity is The Oak Centre for Children, at the Royal Marsden.
