Tara Camogie Club, London are holding an Open Day on Saturday 14 April at Tir Chonaill Park, Greenford, from 11am to 3pm.

Camogie is the ladies version of Hurling and the session is open to complete beginners; past and experienced players alike.

Current Club members range in age from 12 years to 40+ with many of the younger crop of players playing camogie as part of the Duke of Edinburgh Awards scheme. These younger players can play competitive games in our Junior team and subject to numbers, our aim is to start an underage team.

Also welcome on the Junior squad are girls that played underage or junior grade in Ireland. A fair amount of our current members played camogie during primary/secondary school age and then didn’t pick up a hurley again until they arrived in London. Training sessions will soon build up the fitness levels and sharpness with the sliotar.

Tara’s Senior team then of course caters for the more able and experienced players. The London County camogie team also offers an outlet for these girls to compete at a higher level against Irish opposition representing London should they wish.

New members and players are welcome all year round but the Open Day will be a good target date for any ladies that want to return to camogie or try their hand at a new game.

The Open Day commences at 11am until 3pm and there will be an opportunity to puck a few balls around and meet and speak to current Tara members. The Club will have ample equipment such as hurls, helmets and sliotars on the day but please wear comfortable clothing and trainers/boots.
