No appointment necessary on the 27th March

Help with rent arrears, debt, housing benefit, Council Tax and more is available from free sessions at the Western Area Housing Office, Holybourne Avenue, Alton estate.

No appointment is necessary, and local residents are invited to come along between 10am and 4pm on 27 March to find out more from the council’s financial inclusion team.

Mr Cook, a local pensioner, saw an article in the last issue of the council’s housing magazine Homelife, and came to see if the team could help him. He said:
“Even though I am careful with my money, I was struggling to keep on top of my bills. I can’t thank the team enough for the time and care they took to help me. I no longer worry about how I am going to pay the next bill.”

Helen Meehan, financial inclusion team manager, said:
“It is vital that we reach people like Mr Cook. He was extremely worried about his finances, but now he is receiving all the benefits he is eligible for he can manage his monthly outgoings and is even managing to save a little.”
