Swapping Pulling Pints In Putney To Running Across The North Pole | ||||
Next month landlady of the Bricklayer's Arms will have left SW15 for the pole!
The Landlady of the award-winning pub, The Bricklayer’s Arms, recently named third best pub in England by National Geographic, is to run a marathon across the North Pole for a brain injury charity next month.
Becky, a former marathon runner, is taking on this extreme challenge in memory of her sister, Helen, who died suddenly of a brain haemorrhage in 2005. She is also attempting to raise up to £10,000 for the brain injury charity, Headway South West’s monthly support group which aims to provide information, advice and support to people affected by brain injuries as well as support for their carers, family and friends. Becky said: “Headway is a charity that is very close to my heart. The advice and support they give to those coping directly or indirectly from a brain injury is excellent and I hope to successfully raise funds for them.”
Becky continued: “ Although I’ve run marathons before, this will certainly be my biggest adventure yet! I’ll be running on ice, and the air will be so cold it will make my lungs hurt. All money I raise will go directly to Headways but I still need more people help me reach my fundraising target. Please, please dig deep and help me take on this mighty challenge!” To sponsor Becky Newman please visit: www.charitygiving.co.uk/beckynewman |
