Personal trainer, Kate Creegan, based in Putney is taking on the London Marathon on Sunday 28 April for blood cancer charity Anthony Nolan.

Kate decided to take on the marathon for Anthony Nolan because her uncle died in December from Blood Cancer and she wanted to run the marathon in his honour.

Kate, 41 , says, “Since I've started telling people about raising money for Anthony Nolan it's been wonderful hearing how a friend or relative has benefitted from their support. I'm excited to take on the challenge and as a personal trainer leading by example and achieving a fitness goal”.

In lead up to the event Kate is running a number of fundraising activities including an all women's boxing course and 100 years of dance in 6 weeks course at Putney Leisure Centre. Additionally, Kate has arranged with the team at Al Forno a charity dinner being held on the 27 March - there will be a three course meal at £25 per head - bookings can be made from 6pm - 9.30pm. To book your table call 0208 878 7522.

Al Forno's

Anthony Nolan finds and matches donors, of the correct tissue types, with patients with blood cancers and disorders who need lifesaving stem cell transplants giving them a second chance of life.

Anthony Nolan also carries out pioneering research to increase the success of stem cell transplants, and supports patients through their transplant journeys. Kirsty Mooney, Head of Events at Anthony Nolan, said, “We are delighted that Kate is running the marathon for us this year. Step by step, mile by mile, Team AN will be saving lives. The funds they raise will enable us to recruit potential stem cell donors to the Anthony Nolan register – any one of whom could give a second chance of life for someone with blood cancer.”

If you'd like to attend the charity dinner next Wednesday call 0208 878 7522 to book and for all other events email Kate.
