This weekend (1st and 2nd October), the Royal Hospital For Neuro-disability is transforming Putney riverfront into the home of a new local jazz festival, Jazz on the River.

Throughout the weekend, Putney visitors and residents will be able to enjoy a number of free jazz performances at waterfront pubs and bars as well as a main performance by the John Ongom Big Band on Saturday afternoon at the French Market on Putney Wharf.

The free festival has been organised by the Royal Hospital for Neuro-disability as a thanks to the residents and local business people for their continued support. It also aims to raise awareness of the hospital and encourage people to find out more about its role in the community.

A jazz boat trip on the River Thames is also taking place on Saturday, but tickets to this have already sold out.

Stephen Wallace, Putney Town Centre Manager (pictured left), who helped organise the event says, “Jazz on the River will be a great weekend for Putney. With the combination of live jazz performances all weekend, and the French Market on Saturday, there will be a real community atmosphere in the town.”

Gaz Daly, Director of Fundraising at the Royal Hospital for Neuro-disability says,

“Support from local businesses and residents has enabled us to arrange an exciting new festival for Putney.
Everyone in the area has really pulled together to try and make this a success, and I hope to see it become an interesting addition to the Putney events calendar.”
