As part of the Wandsworth Fringe festival six performers will be attempting to tell the story of Kafka’s short story ‘A Hunger Artist’ in the The Arches at St Mary's Church. In what is being described as a ‘morbid immersive experience’ multi-layered production you are promised a meta-theatrical experience about what it means to make, what it means to watch, and what happens when those two things collide.

Executive Director and Producer of Dirty Rascal Theatre Jeremy Wong says, “For our Performers, it's not enough just to outline the characters and the plot; instead, what they want to do is to communicate the true essence of the story - but it's not entirely clear what that is. In an attempt to expose what Kafka was ultimately trying to achieve with his work, the Performers sift through his rich dense text, whilst pouring themselves - their own fears, hopes, frustrations - into the re-telling.

“Underpinning this effort are the Performers' own burning desires to connect with their audience, to truly create an encounter with the people sat in front of them. “

Dirty Rascals is a theatre and performance collective led by Pavlos Christodoulou and Jeremy Wong. They say they have a passion for grappling with complex concepts on stage, combining art forms to create vital, disruptive, genre-defying performances and produce work which challenges theatrical convention, but is ultimately led by story, audience experience and accessibility. Dirty Rascals was recently announced as one of New Diorama Theatre’s Graduate Emerging Companies (2017/18).

Performance are at the Arches at St Mary’s Church, Putney on Friday 5 May at 9:45pm - 10:45pm and Sunday 7 May at 3:15pm - 4:15pm.

Tickets can be purchased online.
