Eddie Floyd, best known for his work on the Stax Record Label in the 60’s and 70’s and the song “Knock on Wood” is joined by Vaneese Thomas, daughter of Stax legend Rufus Thomas for three consecutive nights starting Thursday 2nd June, at the Half Moon.

Floyd's career has included the founding of The Falcons and songwriting at Stax records for artists that include Carla Thomas, Wilson Pickett, Booker T & the MGs, Rufus Thomas, Otis Redding and Johnnie Taylor to name but a few. In fact virtually every Stax artist recorded Floyd material.

His 1966 song "Knock on Wood" originally written for Otis Redding was to launch his solo career after Stax president, Jim Stewart, was persuaded to release Floyd's version. It has since been cut by over a hundred different artists including David Bowie.

Having heard of The Half Moon's threatened closure in January 2010 and the fight to rebuild it's reputation as one of the best grass roots venues Floyd is stepping onto their stage in support.

Daughter of Stax legend Rufus Thomas and Sister of Soul sensation Carla Thomas, Vaneese Thomas has long maintained a stellar musical reputation of her own with her distinct brand of sultry vocals, tasteful arrangements and outstanding song selection.

Double heading with Floyd - The man that wrote for her father - seems simply sublime.

The weekend also sees Eddie & Vaneese doing a one off signing at Soul Brother Records, 1 Keswick Road, Putney from 4pm on Saturday 4th June.
