Following the resounding success and fantastic attendance at last year’s event, the Doverhouse Lions* and Roehampton Playing Fields Community Trust+ are holding another Christmas carols community evening. This will take place at Roehampton Playing Fields, Doverhouse Road on Friday 20th December from 17.30 to 20.00.

There will be traditional carol singing around the Christmas tree, accompanied by members of the Thames Philharmonic Choir, with refreshments served and a special visit from Father Christmas.

The festive community event is family friendly, open to all and free of charge. If guests are able, they are asked to bring donations of Christmas goodies and wrapped gifts for children (indicating age and gender) which will be distributed to the food bank and to local families struggling to make ends meet.

Members of the Trust and the Lions will be on hand to share the progress that has been made over the last year, such as the big spruce up of the pavilion, to discuss their plans to safeguard the future of the Playing Fields and to explain how local people can support the campaign for the Playing Fields to be run by the community for the community.

Don’t forget your Christmas jumper!

+ The Roehampton Playing Fields Community Trust is a community organisation set up in response to the announcement in December 2017 by Wandsworth Borough Council (‘WBC’) that the local community would be given the opportunity to submit proposals to take over the management of Roehampton Playing Fields. WBC announced recently that it is to initiate a new tender process for the site and RPFCT has confirmed its intention to respond to the tender. This site remains committed to providing local community news and public interest journalism.

Articles such as the one above are integral to what we do. We aim to feature as much as possible on local societies, charities based in the area, fundraising efforts by residents, community-based initiatives and even helping people find missing pets.

We've always done that and won't be changing, in fact we'd like to do more.

However, the readership that these stories generates is often below that needed to cover the cost of producing them. Our financial resources are limited and the local media environment is intensely competitive so there is a constraint on what we can do.

One-off donations are also appreciated. Choose The Amount You Wish To Contribute .

For businesses we offer the chance to be a corporate sponsor of community content on the site. For £30 plus VAT per month you will be the designated sponsor of at least one article a month with your logo appearing if supplied.
