Elderly man believed to have been killed

Following a serious accident, Putney High St has been closed in both directions between A205 Upper Richmond Rd and A3209 Putney Bridge Rd.

A local resident whose friend witnessed the accident told PutneySW15.com:
"An elderly man walked out between two stationary buses at bus stop by Smiths, he was knocked down and killed by an overtaking Tesco lorry."

Earlier tweets had conflicting information, some stating a bus has crushed the elderly pedestrian but others had tweeted that it was a lorry.

The High Street is still closed and fire engines, numerous police cars and London ambulance & paramedics continue to be at the scene. As yet no information available from the police.
