A girl from Putney has taken part with great distinction in the recent Europe and Africa Youth Water Ski Championships which were held in Ukraine

Molly Lee was one of four under 14-year-olds to be selected to represent Britain. She grew up in Putney, attending St Mary's Primary School, and St Mary's Church. Twice British Under 14s Slalom Champion, this was Molly’s first time representing Britain at an international competition.

A team of eight were chosen to represent the UK, four under 14s and four under 17s. All team members compete across three disciplines – slalom skiing, trick skiing and jump. Molly has only been ‘Tricking’ for two years, and only started going over the Jump ramp this season.

After a tense run off between four skiers, Molly earned a place in the slalom final, finishing 9th, she placed 11th in Trick and 14th in Jump earning an overall placing of 12th in Europe. Britain finished in an impressive 6th place overall, out of 23 countries competing.

Molly skis year-round at Thorpe Lakes in Chertsey, where she is coached by four-times European champion John Battleday. Donning a dry suit to keep warm in the winter months, the only time she stops training is when the lake freezes over.

In 2019, Molly will be defending her British slalom title as she moves into the Under-17s category and aiming to make the British team once more.
