Speeds on Roehampton Lane are likely to drop to walking pace later this week as roadwork commence to make new northbound lane.

Nigel Hardy from Transport for London said: “We’re carrying out these essential improvement works as part of our £4bn Road Modernisation Plan. We are working hard to improve roads right across London and these works will ease congestion on the A306 carriageway, as well as create safer access to the local bus stop. We will carry out this work as quickly as possible to minimise disruption to local residents and road users.”

The top 10 slowest roads are all in London and South West London records some of the slowest. Further up the A306 the stretch along Castelnau also makes the nation’s top ten with average speeds of 4.3mph. The A3320 which runs from Chelsea along the Finborough Road and Holland Road also has an average of 4.3 mph.
