Ed and Heidi Savitt are a happily married couple living in Putney but their romance has followed a long path with strange coincidences along the way.

Ed who is Putney born and bred left leafy SW15 to study psychology at Newcastle University. Heidi hails from Sheffield and she also went to Newcastle to study business and economics. It was not until her third year that their paths crossed when Ed tracked her down through social media to find our how the washing machine worked in the student house he was renting - she had lived there the previous year, and luckily some post was still being delivered there.

They had still not met but a few weeks later they ended up in the same bar and got chatting - followed by a date at Pizza Express in Jesmond, Newcastle and from there romance blossomed.

Having graduated and moved south to London to work Ed eventually proposed and it was when the couple had a meal with their parents that they discovered that their 'relationship' started decades before when, as young children, they had met in Bodrum, Turkey. An innocent comment from Heidi's mother alerted them to the strange coincidence. She said, 'When you were on holiday in Turkey and you were little you had a little boyfriend called Ed.'

Ed's parents confirmed that their family had also been in Bodrum that year. When Heidi's mother returned home she dug out the family snaps and posted them to Heidi and yes 'little Ed' was her son. The couple recreated the image Heidi's mum had found for their wedding invites - posing in virtually identical outfits, Heidi in a black swimming costume and Ed in a fish-patterned tee-shirt and checked shorts (see image at top of article).

Ed loves being back in his childhood area,"Putney has so much to offer; walking along the river and all the lovely dog friendly pubs and cafes and a quick 9 holes at 'putt in the park'". Ed has this week opened DropShot Coffee, an independent coffee shop in Southfields."

They went on honeymoon to the Maldives – but recently returned to Bodrum, Heidi told PutneySW15: "We have been back to Bodrum to see where we met. It was really exciting to go back to where the miracle began."
