For those hating empty shops on Putney High Street it will have to get worse before it gets better. Santander has confirmed that the Putney branch, based at 88-90, High Street, will be shut temporarily from 21 September 2018, re-opening in December 2018 while a complete refurbishment is carried out.

The company has confirmed that the refurbishment will include expansion into the empty unit at 86 Putney High Street. A Santander spokesperson told this website: “We are working on plans for a refurbishment of our Putney branch reflecting our commitment to the local community. We look forward to sharing further details of the improvements the refurbishment will bring for local customers in due course.”

The company advises us that during the temporary closure, Santander account holders can use the Post Office for cash and cheque deposits, withdrawals and to check their account balance. In addition, they can visit another branch including:
Wandsworth branch at 127-129 Wandsworth High Street,
Fulham branch at 421 North End Road and
East Sheen branch at 347 Upper Richmond Road West.

As well as visiting other Santander branches, customers may find it convenient to use Online, Mobile or Telephone Banking.

We understand that Barclays are also closing for refurbishment on 31 August - we have asked the company to clarify their plans.
