As part of a special 10-day tour across 40 Sainsbury’s stores
Following the success of the London 2012 Paralympic Torch Relay Putney residents now have the opportunity of seeing the Torch up-close. On Wednesday 5th September 2012 customers at Sainsbury’s Putney will get the chance to see the Paralympic Torch as it goes on a special tour across the UK.
The Paralympic Torch Experience will see the Torch travel to 40 Sainsbury’s stores across the country in just 10 days. The Torch’s epic journey begins at Sainsbury’s Putney and will end at the retailer’s Brentwood store on Sunday 7th September.
The Torch was one of 620 Torches used in the 24 hour Relay which took place from Stoke Mandeville in Aylesbury, the home of the Paralympic Movement, to the Olympic Park in Stratford, London on Tuesday 28th to Wednesday 29th August. 61 stores from other areas across the country previously saw the Torch before the 24 Torch Relay took place. By the end of Wednesday 9th September, the Torch will have been to over 100 Sainsbury’s stores.
The Torch is scheduled to be at the store from 9am until 1pm. Sainsbury’s is one of the main sponsors of the Paralympic Games, which take place from 29th August to 9th September, and only retailer giving people across the UK the chance to see the Torch.
