Putney Rowers Breeze Through Heats

Phelan Hill & Jess Eddie both help their eights get to the Rio 2016 finals

Putney resident Phelan Hill part of the Leander Boat Club’s coxed the men’s eight through to the finals later this week - he was the cox in the team that achieved a bronze in London 2012. The full crew were: Paul Bennett, Scott Durant, Matt Gotrel, Matt Langridge, Will Satch, Tom Ransley, Pete Reed, Andrew Hodge and cox Phelan Hill.



After a strong start the British men’s eight won with a time of five minutes thirty four.twenty three seconds.

London Rowing Club member, Jess Eddie helped the Brirish women's eight win in six minutes nine seconds. There was a nervous start with GB slipping behind Canada and New Zealand at the halfway mark. However keeping calm the team pulled their way to win the heat. The full crew were; Karen Bennett, Olivia Carnegie-Brown, Jessica Eddie, Katie Greves, Frances Houghton, Zoe Lee, Polly Swann, Melanie Wilson and cox Zoe de Toledo.
