Putney’s already heavily congested road look set to see further traffic jams due to work planned by Thames Water.

A lane closure will be required on Putney Hill at the junction of Upper Richmond Road with work starting this Saturday (31 October) and scheduled to continue to 14 November.

With the local road network already under strain due to the closure of Hammersmith Bridge further congestion is expected although the problem may be mitigated if, as is widely predicted, London goes into Tier 3 lockdown next week.

Thames Water say the work is required because the trunk mains at the location has been identified as being at risk of catastrophic failure. They need to excavate the road and construct a chamber of the 18” main.
