A fallen tree on Clarendon Drive in Putney has caused some traffic jams in the local area this Wednesday morning.

The tree appears to have narrowly avoided nearby parked cars and there are no reports of anyone being injured.

Wandsworth parks department were notified of the fall and came that afternoon to remove the tree. As a result of inspections two further trees were removed. It is not known at this stage whether they will be replaced.

The immediate cause of the tree falling is not know - there was some wind in Putney around the time but speeds didn't rise much above 10mph according to the Met Office.

Traffic problems had already occurred in the Putney area the same morning due to a collision on the Upper Richmond Road near the junction with Putney High Street leading to a diversion up Putney Hill. This road has now re-opened.
