Students at Putney School Of Art and Design who (under normal circumstances) attend the Thursday night oil painting class taught by the artist Gavin Maughfling have been continuing their creative portfolios.

In March the school had to close due to the COVID-19 crisis and Gavin was put on furlough meaning he was not allowed to teach even in an online capacity.

The pupils decided to carry on working from home, meeting up in the ubiquitous Zoom every fortnight to discuss work and encourage each other.

They have set up a website exhibiting the work conducted so far. Many were unable to paint in oils at home and so were forced to explore other media – watercolours, acrylics, pastel and simple pencil sketching.
