Whilst bad weather and now the coronavirus has resulted in numerous cancelled Heads of the River races and the annual Oxford & Cambridge Boat race to be cancelled there are reminders of Putney's connection to the river to be found by Putney Station.

You will need to practice social distancing but that does not mean you should miss out on the cheerful oars on display which have painted by local school children, artists and community groups.

Positively Putney said: "Our #OarsomePutney artwork has been displayed outside Putney's train station. Fantastic artwork from so many of our wonderful local schools & charities. Whilst we can't have Boat Race Day it's lovely to be able to celebrate the river & Putney's rowing legacy. Thank you to all our talented artists!"
