Work to upgrade children’s play facilities and install fitness equipment at The Pleasance on west Putney’s Dover House Estate will start on 3 April.

Local people helped chose the final design of the £175,000 improvement plan for during a public consultation exercise.

The final design will see new play equipment including wooden play towers, slides and climbing frames suitable for children up to the age of eight, plus new fitness equipment for use by young people and adults.

The play area at The Pleasance will be closed for eight to ten weeks (depending on the weather) while the work is carried out.

Parks and Open Spaces spokesman Cllr Steffi Sutters said, “Thanks to everyone who helped chose the final design for The Pleasance. I’m really pleased to announce that work will start very soon and will mean some fantastic new equipment for local people to enjoy.

“The is just one of a string up playground upgrades currently underway or recently completed. We have spent £3.6m over the past three years improving playgrounds in our parks and open spaces, because we know how important they are to local families.”

The upgraded has been funded through the Wandsworth Local Fund – a charge levied on developers to help pay for community and local neighbourhood infrastructure improvements across the borough.
