Oasis Academy Putney, situated on Putney Common has announced the appointment of Mrs Jenny Parris as their new principal. Mrs Parris replaces the long-standing former Executive Principal Diana Morgan, who will continue her role as permanent principal of Oasis Academy Johanna in Waterloo.

Mrs Parris has dedicated her career to the education and progress of children and young people in South London. She was previously the Head Teacher at St Mary Magdalene CE Primary School (SMMS), an Ofsted graded ‘Good’ school in Peckham, for nine years.

Jenny has substantial and successful teaching experience in KS1, preparing pupils for their end of year assessment tests, has taught in reception, KS2 and tutored very gifted pupils KS3 maths. She also enjoys keeping active walking Lexi her Goldendoodle and co-leads a weekly church Connect Group which involves teaching and pastoral care.

Oasis Academy Putney is a successful school and is graded ‘Good’ with ‘Outstanding’ features following their first report as an academy in April 2019.

Jenny Parris, Principal at Oasis Academy Putney, commented on her appointment, saying; “As the Principal of Oasis Academy Putney, it is a privilege to be working alongside a professional and dedicated staff team whose mission is to deliver exceptional education at the heart of our community.”

“My philosophy for education is one based around the ethos of ‘be the best that you can be.’ I hold a strong child centred approach to teaching, where consistency, praise, encouragement and challenge are key. It is an honour, as a teacher and a leader, to be able to inspire, enthuse, motivate and nurture children to fully achieve this.”

Louise Lee, Regional Director for London & South East at Oasis Community Learning, added; “Mrs Parris is a school leader who has in-depth knowledge following her previous experience across education over the years. During Mrs Parris interview, she impressed the panel with her fresh ideas and well-articulated vision for the Academy. She is a school leader who has high aspirations for her pupils, and her career displays a deep dedication to ensuring that every child receives the opportunities that they need to make great progress.”

“With Mrs Parris as Principal, and with the support of an experienced and accomplished staff team, Oasis Academy Putney is in a very strong position.”
