Former Putney resident Jilly Cooper receives CBE in New Years Honours

Ex-Deputy PM Nick Clegg has received a Knighthood for political and public service in this year's New Year's Eve honours list.



80 year old Jilly Cooper who lived on Erpingham Road for ten years is already an OBE, and this year she has been named a CBE for services to literature and charity. Better known for her racy novels set in the equestrian world Jilly wrote The Common Years whilst living in Putney. A distillation of diaries which note the changing seasons and her encounters with dogs and their owners, offering a portrait of life in a small community which combines the splendours of nature with gossip, illicit romances and jealousies.



Joanna Brotherstone, (pictured above), is a Governor at Greenmead School, and is Co-founder of the charity Small Steps. Joanna has received an MBE - for services to Children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities
