Putney boxer Joe Joyce has signed up with Hayemaker Ringstar the boxing promotion firm founded by former heavyweight champion David Haye.

He was the first signing for this new stable and the 31-year-old Olympic silver medallist who attended Elliot School is already being touted as a potential world title challenger.

In an interview with Boxing News Haye said, “We’re talking about an eight or 10-rounder in his first fight. He’s got it in the tank. I’ve seen it against world class professionals, undefeated professionals who are ranked very, very highly in the world. Behind closed doors he’s given a very good account of himself and I’m certain when the lights come on he will flourish. He’s a big name fighter, and he showed that at the Olympics when he was beaten to the gold by a controversial decision.”

He added that he believed Joe could follow the same path as current world champion Anthony Joshua but get there in half the time. Haye’s business partner Richard Shaefer said there were only two out of the 15 top ranked boxers that they wouldn’t want Joe to fight straightaway and that it would only take five or six fights for him to be ready to challenge for the world title.

By signing for Hayemaker Ringstar there is a chance that Joe’s fights will be available free to air as the company showcase their fights on Dave. Haye’s comeback fight was broadcast on this channel last year.

David Haye told boxing news, “It wasn’t a cheap signing either, but you get what you pay for in this game. We believe he will win titles, and not only that, he will go on to unify the division. I really truly believe that. I’m so glad that he understood our vision, that we will put him on terrestrial television [Dave] to build his brand and become one of the biggest household names in Britain, and the world.”
