Fleur Anderson has been Putney's MP for less than two months and now has her office and team established in Westminster, but is still looking for a permanent office in Putney.

During a visit to meet the team in situ there was an opportunity to catch up on what Fleur has been up to so far:

Q: As a new Labour MP you have joined the house at a time of change within the party - which Leadership contender did you put your name behind:

A: Sir Keir Starmer for leader and neighbouring Toting MP Rosena Allin-Khan for Deputy Leader. Writing in Politics Home Fleur Anderson MP said Rosena Allin-Khan MP will "be a phenomenal Deputy Leader of our Party, and that's why she's got my total support". Both MP's were highly supportive of the Labour MP's campaign to win the marginal Putney seat in 2019.

Q: Hammersmith Bridge - what news do you have for SW15 residents?

A: I have been to Hammersmith Bridge with the Leader of Hammersmith & Fulham Council Cllr Stephen Cowan to see the problem first hand and to get an understanding of the issues both physical and financial. I believe that this is a problem for all neighbouring councils and MP's and I have been talking to all concerned as residents south of the river are probably more affected by the closure than the residents of H&F. At the Council Meeting on 5th February Fleur Anderson accused the Council Leader Ravi Govindia of " just playing party politics at a time when we need to come together and fix this bridge".

Q: Putney High Street and the pollution issue was one of your election pledges, what are you doing to get the levels reduced?

A: I met with Nick O’Donnell from Wandsworth Council on Putney High Street to discuss the issue - with £735,000 in fines from the yellow box at the junction between Putney High Street and Lacy Road in 2018 alone I believe that the Council must spend this money on improving the High Street. I am still a councillor for Bedford Ward and in that role I am on the Strategic Planning and Transportation Overview and Scrutiny Committee so I can keep ensuring Wandsworth invests in Putney High Street with wider pavements, trees and ways to reduce traffic.

Q: HS2 - for it or against it?

A: I believe this is not the right time to go ahead - Investment in local transport links in the North would be more efficient and have less impact on the environment.

Looking ahead:

Putney Office; - searching for a site for 3 desks.... any advice readers? And recruiting for a Constituency Assistant for the office.

Helping local businesses by making Putney a destination area. "On Putney High Street, everyone agrees that we need it to be greener. I'll be pushing on the government for the promised 'Future High Streets' funding and working with the Putney Improvement District and others to open up the empty shops".

Roehampton: "I've also been standing up for residents in Roehampton to challenge plans for the Alton Regeneration, which are in their final stages but still don't have enough affordable housing, youth services or improved transport links".
