One of the perks for West Putney residents are the free fireworks held annually over the river at Bishops Park - usually all you have to do is look over the river and up! But not this year ...... due to the ongoing building works at Fulham FC's Craven Cottage.

However, Battersea Park Fireworks are being held this year on Saturday 2 November. Award-winning pyro-technicians, Jubilee Fireworks will once again be bringing a spectacular show lasting 22 minutes.

Gates open at 6pm and you can purchase an array of hot food and drinks within the park before the preshow entertainment begins at 7pm. Remember to bring cash as there are no card facilities onsite. The spectacular bonfire will be lit at 7.30pm by the Mayor of Wandsworth, Councillor Jane Cooper with the fireworks beginning at 8pm. Please note, we encourage everyone to arrive by 7.30pm to allow for bag checks and ticket scanning. There will be no entry after 8pm.

Wandsworth Council's Cabinet Member Community Services and Open Spaces, Councillor Steffi Sutters, pictured above, says: 'The Battersea Park fireworks display is always a spectacular event, and tickets sell fast, so make sure you don't miss out.'

NEW for 2019 is the Battersea Park Fireworks Afterparty! The Afterparty will be held within the park at Battersea Evolution and will go on to the early hours of 1am. It is an exclusive partying experience with live music, bars and food available to Battersea Park Fireworks ticket holders only. (Must be purchased with a Battersea Park Fireworks ticket, over 18's only).

STANDARD: £10.00 + booking fee

CHILDREN aged 10 and under go free but must have a ticket – these can be booked online when purchasing a standard ticket. Up to six child tickets can be booked when purchasing a standard ticket.

The RSPCA has released a new report highlighting the stress fireworks cause to animals, to coincide with the start of bonfire season. The charity would like to see the public sale and use of fireworks further limited to being closer to four specific celebration and festival dates (November 5, December 31, Chinese New Year and Diwali).

There should also be a noise restriction on the maximum level of decibels fireworks can reach and all public fireworks displays should be licensed and advertised in advance, the charity says.

Figures from the RSPCA show hundreds of calls from concerned animal lovers - about animals including alpacas and an African grey parrot as well as dogs and horses - are made about fireworks every year to the charity.
