Man rescued from flat blaze in Roehampton

Four fire engines and 20 firefighters were called to a fire at a flat on Tangley Grove, Roehampton in the early hours of this Wednesday (29th August). Part of the sixth floor flat was damaged by the blaze.

A man was rescued via an internal staircase by fire crews wearing breathing apparatus. He was taken to hospital by London Ambulance Service crews suffering from burns and smoke inhalation. A further five people from an adjacent flat were led to safety by firefighters. They were suffering from smoke inhalation and were treated at the scene by Ambulance Service crews.

The Brigade was called at 0119 and the fire was under control by 0206. Fire crews from Fulham, Richmond, Hammersmith and Wimbledon fire stations attended the incident. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
