34-year-old Anthony Gomes has been banned from teaching for life after he received a police caution for following a 12-year-old into a unisex changing room at Putney Leisure Centre and filming her while she undressed.

Gomes, who was a teacher in Kent, was banned by a professional conduct panel which decided his actions in "involved harmful behaviour towards a child".

In April 2016 the child spotted Gomes filming her with his phone under the partition - according to witnesses he had been wandering around the uni-sex changing room for about 20 minutes.

Gomes initially denied the accusations but later admitted guilty saying he was unaware the child was only 12 years old and that he had been suffering from ill-health.

Mr Gomes accepted a police caution for outraging public decency, but the professional conduct panel stated: "In this case the panel has found the allegations proven and found that those proven facts amount to unacceptable professional conduct and conduct that may bring the profession into disrepute. The panel has made a recommendation to the Secretary of State that Mr Gomes should be the subject of a prohibition order, with no provision for a review period."
