But later the 49-year-old was released without further action

A third man has been arrested and released in the investigation into the Putney Bridge jogger case.

A 49-year-old man was detained by Metropolitan Police officers at an address in Aberdeen this Thursday (12 October) but was later released with no further action to be taken.

Detectives from Wandsworth CID are continuing to appeal for information, and have previously released CCTV images of the man they are keen to trace.

At about 7.40am on Friday, 5 May the 33-year-old victim was walking across Putney Bridge on the east side heading in the direction of Fulham towards Putney Bridge Tube Station when a male jogger knocked her over into the road and into the path of an oncoming bus, which narrowly missed hitting her.

The bus stopped and some passengers got off and rushed to the victim's aid. She received minor injuries from the incident.

About 15 minutes later the jogger came back the other way across the bridge. The victim tried to speak to him but he did not acknowledge her and carried on jogging.

The jogger is described as a white man, aged in his 30s, with brown eyes and short brown hair. He was wearing a light grey T-shirt and dark blue shorts with grey trainers.

Detective Sergeant Chris Griffith, leading the investigation, said,“We are continuing to investigate this incident and follow up leads as and when we receive new information about possible suspects.

“We are grateful to those who have called in so far. I am also appealing for anyone who recognises the man in the CCTV stills, or with any information that might assist the investigation to contact police or Crimestoppers."

Two 41-year-old men , had been arrested in connection with the investigation this August. Both were subsequently released without further action.
