CCTV footage of an attempted burglary has been released showing a man trying to gain access to a home in Putney.

The incident happened between 3.50am and 4.20am on Saturday, 29 October while a family slept inside their home in Rusholme Road.

CCTV outside the property showed the suspect getting in and out of a car belonging to the family. He was later seen walking around the home trying the doors and windows and looking an opportunity to break in. He left with a coat taken from the boot of the car.

The suspect is described as a white man, aged in his twenties with short brown hair and stubble. He was wearing a dark coloured jacket, jeans and dark trainers.

PC Dan Ingram, from Wandsworth CID, said, "Whilst the family were sleeping, the suspect appeared to try to break into their home and then left the scene with a woman's coat. We are keen to identify the man in the footage so we can speak to him about the incident. We would also urge anyone who witnessed the theft to contact us."

Anyone with information or any witnesses are urged to call police via 101 or on Twitter @MetCC or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
