A three week hunt for a gang member wanted for robbery ended this week following a tip off from a member of the public. Following a number of arrest enquiries at a variety of addresses and several unsuccessful chases West Putney Safer Neighbourhoods team received a call that the wanted male was in a nearby flat.

Officers from response team came to assist and with the SNT attended the venue. The occupier let officers in saying that the male wasn’t there. An initial search came up with nothing, until the male was found hiding behind a washing machine. The Priority Crime Unit have now charged the male and he has been remanded until a court hearing in September.

PS Andy Bott West Putney SNTsaid:
“This demonstrates the benefits of SNTs building close relationships within their communities. Thanks to the tip off we’ve managed to assist the PCU in taking a robber off the streets.”
