On 20th September 2007 at approx 10pm, 3 men entered the West 9 Food and Wine store Putney Hill, Putney.

One of the men (pictured) scooped up multiple cans of lager from a display and tried to leave without paying.

The 63 year old, shopkeeper intervened to stop him leaving at which point the male threw a punch at him. The shopkeeper raised his arm to deflect the blow and the punch struck his forearm. The blow caused the shopkeepers arm to break and he was subsequently hospitalised for several days and needed surgery.
