A charity classical music event is one of the last places you would expect to see a violent, foul-mouthed, homophobic cop from the seventies but DCI Gene Hunt (or more accurately the actor Philip Glenister) will be opening just such an event this month.

The Life on Mars star has proven so popular that he is to feature in a spin off series following the conclusion of the BBC’s Manchester based coma/time travel cop show but on Saturday 21st April he will be showing his support for the East Sheen Branch of Macmillan Cancer support and the Richmond Orchestra. They are joining together to put on a Sponsored Play–In Concert from 11am.– 3pm. at Sheen Lane Centre, East Sheen.

During the event a number of aspiring local musicians have been sponsored to conduct, play or sing with the orchestra.

Refreshments will be available including coffee, cakes, light lunch with bar. There is no charge for entrance and all are welcome, even namby-pamby southerners.

All proceeds to Macmillan Cancer Support and Richmond Orchestra.
