Last Sunday (10 July), residents of the Sheltered Housing unit in Grosse Way were treated to a Summer Picnic in glorious weather on the communal green.

The day was organised by local women's fiction writer and AgeUK Wandsworth fundraiser Amanda Egan, who hosted a similar event last year after her usual indoor annual fundraiser had to be cancelled due to Covid restrictions.

Attendees enjoyed a picnic lunch, music and a raffle which, along with donations from regular supporters, raised around £400 and still counting.

Grosse Way is a Wandsworth borough council run sheltered housing scheme. It is situated in Roehampton, just off Putney Heath.

This is a popular sheltered scheme owing to the appealing flats, social activities and secluded garden settings

This site remains committed to providing local community news and public interest journalism.

Articles such as the one above are integral to what we do. We aim to feature as much as possible on local societies, charities based in the area, fundraising efforts by residents, community-based initiatives and even helping people find missing pets.
