This Wednesday (27 February) was the last day that residents could pop in to Carphone Warehouse on Putney High Street. The store is one of 92 closures that the company announced would close when the company announced pre-tax profits for 2017-18 would be £382m, and that the profits would fall to £300m in the current financial year.

The loss of big names such as Marks & Spencer, Halfords, River Island, Claire's Accessories, Halfords and Top Shop has left residents concerned and smaller business have also felt the impact - Penelope Red moved west to Richmond last year, having said footfall dropped immediately after the closure of M&S and her business could not continue in Putney.

A spokesperson for Carphone Warehouse told PutneySW15: "As part of a review of some of our stores announced in May 2018, we decided to close our shop Putney High Street. All colleagues affected have been offered redeployment locally and are being fully supported throughout this process."

The nearest branches after today will be at Southside Shopping Centre in Wandsworth, and at Hurlingham Retail Park in Fulham.
