Local enthusiasts have combined with owners J C Decaux to landscape and plant the land opposite Putney Methodist Church on the Upper Richmond Road.

Work started this week on the landscaping and will be followed by a planting scheme designed by local resident Carolyn Singer to give year round interest with flowers, berries and scent attracting both bees and birds.

Carolyn and Tim Mack approached JC Decaux on behalf of residents in the West Putney Conservation area some months ago to see if more could be made of the open space.

Tim told this website: "The land is on a busy junction that has considerable pedestrian traffic from local schools and residents using the crossing to the supermarket opposite with its congested forecourt. We are delighted that work has started in time for summer and Councillors have encouraged us including getting a new bin alongside the popular benches".
