The seventy year owner of a a Yorkshire Terrier has told how a squad of Metropolitan Police officers descended on her home to 'arrest' her dog

A courier delivering a parcel to Ms Settimo's address on Vale Crescent, Kingston Vale SW15 reported being chased and 'savaged' after falling by a dog to the police five days after the attack occurred.

Ms Settimo told The Times: “As soon as he saw my dog he was screaming like a lunatic, ‘He’s killing me’. He was screaming so loudly people came running out.”

The courier claims that he was bitten on the ear and went to hospital after the alleged attack on June 21.

Ms Settimo continued: “It only happened because [the courier] started running away and fell over,” she said. “I told him if he was afraid to just stay still. My neighbour came out and picked up the dog. It looked like the man had a little scratch above the waist, but I think that was from when he fell on the floor. My neighbour had to take him to the hospital because he was making such a fuss".

Alfie remains in police custody, and if he is deemed dangerous he could face being put down.

A Metropolitan Police spokesman said: “Two dog units and three local officers attended the scene. The warrant was carried out at 8.08am on Friday (18th August) and a dog was seized under Section 5 of the Dangerous Dogs Act. The dog was found to be a Yorkshire terrier. The owner shall be interviewed at a mutually convenient time.”
