Local community initiative, Abundance Southfields, hosted a visit from the Liberal Democrats on Sunday 9 September. Mark Gitsham and Sue Wixley, the prospective Parliamentary candidates for Battersea and Southfields, joined Lib Dem mayoral candidate, Siobhan Benita, in Southfields to try their hand at apple pressing and bottling cider.

Abundance Southfields is a local project "doing good local things with local fruit". Apples, pears and crabapples are picked from local trees by teams of volunteers and given away to the community. Abundance project fruit juices and cider will be on sale at the annual Harvest Festival on Saturday 29 September.

"Projects like these are one of the many reasons that I love living in Southfields," said Sue Wixley. "It's such a great way to connect up local people and make the most of the fruit trees in the area. People are making jam and juices and I've already baked a few apple cakes myself. I'm really looking forward to sampling more of the cider at the Harvest Festival in a few weeks."
