The importance of reading with our children has never been greater in the digital age, so what more could we ask for than a heart-warming Christmas tale to share with our little ones this winter? Step up bestselling Barnes children’s author, Karen Inglis, who has teamed up with close friend and ex-East Sheen resident, Anne Swift, to produce a delightful new picture book The Christmas Tree Wish which is guaranteed to capture the hearts of children and parents alike!

As the snow starts to fall on Christmas Eve morning, little Bruce Spruce dreams about finding a home for Christmas Day. But when things don’t quite go to plan he finds that his friends are there for him – and all is not lost. A heart-warming tale of hope, friendship and being different. Through Anne Swift’s stunning pen and ink illustrations, readers will fall in love with little Bruce Spruce, Penelope Pine, Douglas Fir and Cedrick Cypress!

Karen says: “This a story that had been going around in my head for years after I saw a small bedraggled Christmas tree left unsold one dark evening a few days before Christmas. I knew I wanted hand-drawn illustrations rather than digital, so it was a question of finding the right person. Anne, a great friend for over 25 years, is an architect by day but has always turned her hand effortlessly to other creative projects. If I had thought to ask her sooner if she could try children’s illustrations this book would have been out years ago!”

You’ll find signed copies of The Christmas Tree Wish at The Barnes Bookshop and can order it from any local bookshop or online. Suitable for ages 3-5+ and all grown-ups who love picture books!

One lucky member of PutneySW15.com will win a signed copy of The Christmas Wish.
